Being a model railway group it would be rather silly of us not to have a modelling contest, it encourages friendly competition and helps accelerate creativity. Back in 2014 with our first contest we had a rather large number of submissions in the diorama category, but unfortunately lacked in both scratch and kit building category submissions. Fortunately this year this has not been the case and the submissions in all three categories were very impressive and held a very solid representations of the skills of the modellers in our club.
For those unfamiliar with the categories I will briefly outline them below :-
- Diorama - A small model layout representing a scene. It is not required that it be animated, nor directly relate to railways.
- Kit Build - A model produced from a kit produced by a 3rd party. This covers a variety of different kit standards like brass, white metal and plastic kits.
- Scratch Build - Somewhat more advanced then kit build where the model is produced entirely by the modeller from the ground up. We also decided that heavily modified models or extreme kit bashing would also fall into this category.
